The Potsdam Sanssouci Music Festival

AUSTRALIA DANCERS REPRESENTATION

The Potsdam Sanssouci Music Festival, under the patronage of German's Minister President Manfred Stolpe is now one of the most prestigious Music Festivals in the world and is the first time that Australia will be represented in such a prestigious event with a troupe from Victorian College of the Arts.

The Festival which is staged in the picturesque and historical Sanssouci Castle with its beautiful garden setting draws famous companies and orchestras from around the world. Berlin recently reinstated as the capital of a united Germany, is now a hub for commerce and European corporate success; Potsdam is the cradle for new and innovative artistic visions, drawing talent from through out Europe and the USA.

The 1998 Festival opened with the world famous Kirov Ballet Company presented 35 concerts and performances of opera seen by audiences of more than 50,000 people. The 1999 Festival two performances of Four Seasons are expected to attract similar audiences. The total expected audience of more than 100,000 people makes it an exciting number for the overseas promotion of our Victorian College of the Arts and in general our Australian culture products, tourism and other services.

The Sanssouci Music Festival, Director, Mr. Marc Bogaerts and Hans Otto Theater agreed on the appointment of Mr. Richard A. Fletcher and Fletcher PR Events to lead the international liaison, promotion and marketing of the event in Australia. In addition the Festival offered a total contribution of $170,000.00 (One hundred and seventy thousand dollars), towards covering the costs of the Australian dancers performance at this world famous festival.
